While Calgary’s summer certainly wasn’t a sultry one, Salopek & Associates’ 4th Annual Run to Renew didn’t disappoint, delivering at least one dog day of summer with its howling success! Despite a severe weather delay, which caused us to move our Run from early summer to the last day of the season, on September 22nd we geared up for a gorgeous morning…and we had some furiends close on our heels!
With our biggest turnout yet (accounting for all paws), this year we focused fundraising towards supporting our furry friends in partnership with Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS)! A locally based non-profit organization, AARCS is a leader in Alberta animal welfare, with their goal being to help homeless animals in our community and enact social change to promote a world of compassion for all animals. As a company that loves dogs, and has an open office door policy for canine colleagues, Salopek thought it was a great fit for our team – and our four legged friends proved to be the perfect training partners!
Started in 2015 with a group of 11 runners, comprised mostly of Salopek team and family members, Run to Renew has since grown year after year. In it’s 4th year we were thrilled to be joined by over 40 runners coming out to support a great cause while also renewing commitments to a healthier, more active lifestyle.
An event timed purposefully to be held half way through the year, when many charitable organizations experience fewer donations and giving may not be at the forefront of peoples minds, Salopek’s Run aims to renew awareness and help raise funds to support local initiatives that make Calgary an amazing place to live and work. It also provides the perfect opportunity to revisit resolutions made for healthier living and renew a commitment to goals set at the beginning of the year.
We can’t express how much we appreciate every single person and pup who came out to Run with us this year, many of whom are repeat participants who we love running alongside each year! Together, and with the support of many people who gave generously whether running or not, we raised over $2,500 in support of AARCS. To date, Salopek & Associates is proud to share that Run to Renew has raised $16,076 in funds for Calgary based charities!
With every year that we run, we renew a dream of giving back to a community that we care deeply about. It’s an initiative that is close to the Salopek family’s heart, and we want to send a heartfelt thank you to every person who has supported us this year and in the past to help make this event such a success from both a fundraising and feel good standpoint.
